On April 22, Governor Terry McAuliffe signed an executive order restoring the civil rights of more than 200,000 former felons. What a victory! After years of hard work to change an unjust system, we can now celebrate that our family members, friends, and neighbors who have felony convictions are now able to participate in the political process.
To mark this occasion, Virginia Organizing and Southwest CARES are hosting a Restoration Celebration with the Secretary of the Commonwealth that will highlight the significance of this executive order and the importance of returning citizens registering to vote.
