This webinar will share with folks about proactive approaches to Restorative Justice in Education (RJE). Sometimes, schools limit their implementation of RJE to their discipline systems – and yes, we need to change the way we work with school discipline structures if we are to dismantle the pipeline to prison – but there are a lot of proactive things we can do as well. There are so many restorative things we can do that can prevent challenging behavior, conflict, and violence. When we attempt to shift our discipline systems without also shifting the ways in which we nurture healthy relationships, explicitly teach conflict resolution, and promote justice and equity, we will likely fall short. During our time together, we will discuss proactive approaches to RJE implementation and consider ways in which we might more effectively dismantle the pipeline to prison.
