Families USA and Virginia Organizing Hold Two Richmond News Conferences Around Health Care Lawsuit Hearing
Richmond, VA-The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit will hear oral arguments in on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in the case of Commonwealth of Virginia v. Sebelius, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's challenge to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The case will be heard concurrently with arguments in Liberty University v. Geithner, a separate challenge to the law brought by Liberty University.
At 8:00 a.m., prior to the morning court session, Ron Pollack, Executive Director of the consumer health organization Families USA, Virginia Organizing and will hold a news conference at the corner of North 10th and E. Main St, Richmond, near the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. United States Courthouse. Families USA and Virginia Organizing are participants in a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.
Virginia Organizing will join Families USA at the morning event. (The morning news conference will feature people who have benefited from health benefit changes in the reform law who could be harmed if the Affordable Care Act were invalidated.)
At noon, Families USA will join Virginia Organizing at the same location to offer post-hearing reactions.
