Richmon, VA- On Thursday, July 14, 2011, at 3:00 pm, the Virginia Main Street Alliance will host a conference call releasing an interim survey of small business focused on health care reform implementation.
The survey interviewed 299 small businesses across the state about their views on how the state should implement health care reform. The survey found that most small businesses favor the state taking an active role in health care reform.
Key findings include:
67% of small businesses favor an active purchaser model for the health benefits exchange.
78% of small businesses favor state review of health insurance rate increases
77% of small businesses favor standards that require insurance companies to spend their money on health care
63% of small businesses said the health insurance industry has done a poor or very poor job of serving the needs of the state’s small businesses
The Virginia Main Street Alliance is calling for the state to listen to the wisdom of small business and set up health benefits exchange that will serve the needs of the state’s small businesses.
