Danville, Va.—On Wednesday, October 16, Danville community leaders will visit U.S. Representative Robert Hurt’s local office and ask that he cease and desist obstructing continuing resolution efforts and start working on a way to fund our government and stop the shutdown.

“Representative Hurt needs to understand that the people of Danville benefit from the Affordable Care Act, but do not benefit from the government shutdown,” said Virginia Organizing Chairperson Sandra A. Cook. “Virginia Organizing wants Representative Hurt to stop obstructing efforts to fund our government.”

Community leaders will hold a brief media conference outside of Representative Hurt’s office and then deliver the “cease and desist” notice from the Danville community.

“Virginia Organizing is fed up with Congress’ tantrum,” said Cook. “It’s time to stop the political shenanigans, for Congress to get back to work, and for our government to put Virginians back to work. Enough is enough.”
