About the Waynesboro Chapter

The Waynesboro Chapter was founded in 2020 and is one of the newest chapters of Virginia Organizing. They have learned new and creative ways to organize and build people power during a global pandemic, and are actively working on their first campaign to improve tenants’ rights. Many of the city’s landlords are absentee, fail to maintain and improve their buildings, and charge unreasonably high rents compared to the area median income. The chapter is focusing first on the conditions of rental properties. They are asking the city to create an accessible tenant complaint hotline and to establish a rental inspection program that holds landlords accountable and improves the existing affordable housing stock.

To get involved in the Waynesboro Chapter please contact the local organizer, Amanda Dameron, at amandadameron@virginia-organizing.org.

Join one of the monthly chapter meetings that take place every second Thursday of the month, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
