Albemarle/Charlottesville Chapter Update – May 2025

May 8, 2025 4:19 pm by: Category: Charlottesville-Albemarle, Community Voices A+ / A-

It’s been a while since our Chapter posted an online update, but we’ve been busy since our last update!

Since October, we’ve met regularly every month, bringing us to our 8th chapter meeting this month. We spent a lot of time recruiting by door-knocking and tabling at events like the One Stop Shop. In February, we lobbied our legislators at the General Assembly, and in April, two new leaders attended our statewide Power Analysis to learn more about organizing in Virginia. They brought their knowledge back to the Chapter at our April meeting, and we started our own local power mapping. We’re working to identify a campaign and are hearing from our neighbors about their issues by canvassing lower-income neighborhoods in Albemarle County.

Our Chapter is currently meeting every third Thursday of the month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Charlottesville Friends Quaker Meeting House (1104 Forest St, Charlottesville, VA 22901). Parking is available along the street or at the Community Lab School, located next door at 1200 Forest St.

If you’re interested in learning more about the community and how we can change local and state policy, contact your local organizer, Clio – clio@virginia-organizing.org or 434-825-7730.
