Where: Representative Randy Forbes’ Chesterfield Office (9401 Courthouse Rd, #201, Chesterfield, VA 23832)
Chesterfield, Va. – Virginia Organizing will gather outside of U.S. Representative Randy Forbes’ Chesterfield office on Wednesday, February 27 at noon to urge the Congressman to “pull the pork” from defense spending and protect vital programs for families.
As an affiliate of USAction, Virginia Organizing will participate in the national day of action calling attention to wasteful defense spending. Virginia Organizing leaders will share stories from people who need or recognize the importance of the sequester-endangered programs.
“The message must be delivered to Congress that they must stop paying for things we don't need so that we can afford things like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security,” said Jill Weisman of Chesterfield. “Congress needs to pass a more efficient pentagon budget not budget cuts to social programs if we are to get our economy back in order.”
In addition to the demonstration, Virginia Organizing will also ask people to call their members of Congress to ask them to control wasteful defense spending and not make cuts to important programs for families.
