Since we put solar panels on our Charlottesville office, we’ve experienced an 80 percent savings in our electric bills and we want all Virginians to be able to access solar power. Virginia Organizing is supporting the Virginia Declaration of Solar Rights released today by our friends at VA SUN, an organization dedicated to expanding access to solar power across Virginia. Please read VA SUN’s note below and sign the Virginia Declaration of Solar Rights today!
It’s time for Virginians to claim their solar rights.
Virginia’s solar policies rank among the worst in the nation. They limit job creation and impose on our right to be energy self-sufficient.
This summer, the General Assembly is holding a special session to review solar policies that will help all Virginians fairly access solar energy.
You can make a difference by signing the Virginia Declaration of Solar Rights. Let your state senator and delegate know there is broad, bi-partisan support for legislation that enables all Virginians to benefit from solar energy.
This declaration is a first step to claiming our freedom to harness solar energy. We should no longer accept restrictions that prevent us from being energy self-sufficient.
Join the growing number of Virginians that have asked the General Assembly to:
- Lift Virginia’s 1% limit on total solar energy generation
- Allow Virginians to lease or share solar panels
- End penalties and system size limits for solar on private property
Thanks for your support and for signing the Virginia Declaration of Solar Rights!
