Local Residents to Deliver a Medal to Nye’s Hampton Roads Office So That He Will Have the Courage to Do What is Right For His District in the Future

Virginia Beach, Va –The Virginia Organizing Project along with Health Care for America Now and local community members will be visiting Congressman Glenn Nye’s Virginia Beach office on Friday, March 26 at noon to remind the Congressman that there is more at stake with health care reform legislation than his political career. The group will present Nye’s staff with statistics on the local benefits of health care reform along with a medal to give the Congressman the courage to fight harder next time for the people of his district.

Local residents will highlight the personal benefits they will experience now that health care reform has passed:

  • Matt Masterson of Virginia Beach will no longer fear for the health of his son with Type 1 Diabetes who has been discriminated against due to pre-existing conditions.

  • College student Amber Stanley (21) of Virginia Beach will be able to stay on her parent’s health insurance plan until she is 26.

  • Mildred Nichols of Virginia Beach (80) will get help with her $100/month prescriptions and will no longer be stuck in the Medicare Part D donut hole.
