We all know there are lots of important issues in the Governor’s race, but there is one in particular that we would like to highlight here: children’s issues.
In Virginia today:
280,000 children live in poverty
148,000 children lack health insurance
1,000's of children are deprived of Pre-K and afterschool programs
66,000 reports of child abuse and neglect are filed every year
148,000 children lack health insurance
1,000's of children are deprived of Pre-K and afterschool programs
66,000 reports of child abuse and neglect are filed every year
Created to focus attention on the needs of children and families in Virginia during the 2013 election season, the “Strong Kids, Strong Virginia” campaign will educate candidates, office holders, the media, and the public about issues such as child poverty, early education and care, health, and safety by distributing information, coordinating events, holding public and candidate forums, and training groups in civic engagement.
Virginia Organizing is teaming with Every Child Matters in Virginia, the Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education, and other groups to make sure that children’s issues are not forgotten! Click here to learn more.
