Medicaid Expansion is NOT Dead

June 13, 2014 2:52 pm by: Category: Health Care A+ / A-
As you may have heard by now, the General Assembly passed a budget that failed to include Medicaid expansion and requires legislative approval before expansion can begin.

Virginia Organizing is appalled at the political gamesmanship of this decision, but we are not giving up.

Hundreds of supporters gathered across the Commonwealth on Thursdaynight to stand in solidarity for Medicaid expansion at nine different vigils. We need to keep it up and make sure our legislators know that this is unacceptable.

Here are some ways you can help right now:

·  Write a letter to the editor of your local paper and let them know how you feel about this.
·  Call your state delegate or senator and tell them that Medicaid expansion is still a priority for Virginians and we will not rest until 400,000 people receive the health care coverage they need. You can find your legislators’ information by clicking here.
·  Call the Governor’s office at 804-786-2211 and encourage him to be strong and fight for Medicaid expansion.

Thank you for all you have done to expand Medicaid. Medicaid expansion is NOT dead in Virginia because people like you are still willing to work to make sure all Virginians have access to affordable, quality health care.
