Richmond, Va. — Virginia Organizing released a statement today from Chairperson Ladelle McWhorter about the latest attempts to sabotage the Dream Act by the White House:
“Virginia Organizing calls on Congress and the White House to let the original Dream Act come to a vote.
Eighty six percent of Americans want to see the Dream Actpassed, to protect DACA recipients from deportation, because it’s the only decent thing to do. It has broad bi-partisan support in Congress and would pass easily in its original form.
Nevertheless, the White House is wrecking the bill by adding racist, anti-immigrant conditions. In effect, they are holding Dreamers hostage in order to do harm to other immigrants.
We will not tolerate political games that risk people’s lives. We call on Congress and the White House to pass a clean DreamAct immediately.”
