Washington, D.C. — As the pro-immigration reform movement winds up a successful summer, anti-immigrant groups are becoming more and more desperate as their efforts to derail legislation repeatedly come up short. Groups like NumbersUSA and FAIR have seen underwhelming results at rallies in Washington and opponents of reform like Congressman Steve King continue to lose ground and credibility.

Old, anti-immigrant standby groups like FAIR and NumbersUSA have spent months developing new tactics to stop reform. One of their front groups, the Black American Leadership Alliance (BALA), has connections to white nationalists and exists solely to push a wedge between American communities of color.

Next week, BALA is holding a nationwide “tour” to push their message: that immigration reform will hurt American workers, especially African Americans. The “We Are America” tour, a last-gasp attempt to turn out an anti-immigrant showing this summer, is taking place in only a handful of cities–Phoenix, Arizona; Houston, Texas; Westchester, Ohio; and Richmond, Virginia–and will serve as a platform for the anti-immigrant groups that support BALA’s activities.

Join us for a press call to learn the facts about BALA – who is behind them, what their tactics are, and how they’ve already failed in their opposition to immigration reform.
