On Tuesday, August 13, Governor Bob McDonnell visited Tidewater Community College (Portsmouth Campus) to discuss changes to the process of restoration of rights in Virginia.

Virginia Organizing leaders, including Board members, attended the speech.

Virginia Organizing has been working for about 15 years in support of automatic restoration of rights for former felons. The Governor’s administrative change is a step in the right direction, but more work needs to be done to ensure that those who have served their time automatically receive their civil rights.
