While Cuccinelli Spoke Inside the Spotswood Country Club, Residents Spoke Out in Opposition to His Recent Actions Opposing Health Care Reform, Gay Rights and Environmental Protection
Harrisonburg, VA – On Thursday, April 22, the Virginia Organizing Project and other local groups gathered for a peaceful, moving picket line outside of the Spotswood Country Club where Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli addressed the local Chamber of Commerce. Community members sent a message that Attorney General Cuccinelli’s reckless actions speak only for himself and not for the people of Virginia.
“I came out because I am embarrassed by the recent actions of the Attorney General to block health care reform, sue the EPA and to repeal non-discrimination policies at colleges and universities. He seems bent on taking the state backwards, not forwards,” said Diana Woodall, VOP member and event organizer. “As a small business owner and former member of the Chamber of Commerce, I am deeply concerned that the Attorney General is wasting his time on frivolous lawsuits, instead of protecting consumers and supporting small business owners like myself. ”
