Newport News, Va.—Virginia Organizing State Governing Board member and long-time leader was elected the first Chairperson of the new national organization, People’s Action.
People’s Action was formed after a merger of three groups — National People’s Action, Alliance for a Just Society, and USAction — as a network of grassroots organizations across the U.S. to promote social, racial, economic, and environmental justice.
“I am honored to serve as the first Chairperson for People’s Action,” said Jay Johnson. “The possibility for this organization to be a dynamic force for change is incredible. We are working to solidify the work of three national organizations to involve grassroots people and those elected to serve the organization at the very top. This will be a true partnership that brings people together to focus on the change this country needs to maximize the strengths and potential of all Americans.”
Virginia Organizing is a state partner of People’s Action.
