Charlottesville, Va.—Ten Thousand Villages Charlottesville is hosting a shopping event to benefit Virginia Organizing on Sunday, December 10 from 1-5 p.m. Virginia Organizing, a non-partisan grassroots organization, will receive a portion of the proceeds from all sales during the event hours.
“Virginia Organizing is thrilled to partner — for the fifth year — with a responsible company to support artisans in developing nations while also supporting Virginians who want to work for justice in their local communities,” said Virginia Organizing Chairperson Ladelle McWhorter. “The funds we raise from this event will support grassroots organizing on issues that are important to Virginians.”
Ten Thousand Villages is a not for profit fair trade retailer that works to provide a market for hand-crafted products made by people in marginalized areas of the world. Currently, Ten Thousand Villages works with more than 20,000 artisans.
The event will draw customers to the fair trade retailer and provide support for grassroots organizing, both of which benefit individuals and communities that have been historically silenced or oppressed.
This is the fifth year that Virginia Organizing and Ten Thousand Villages Charlottesville have partnered for the event.
