For 20 years, Virginia Organizing has been organizing to dismantle racism, sexism, heterosexism, classism, and other forms of discrimination that permeate Virginia’s systems. For 20 years, we’ve been organizing for a more just Virginia—for social, economic, and environmental justice. We’ve had some setbacks over the years, but we’ve also had a lot of wins.
This year alone, we’ve focused on local Chapter issues to make sure our communities are welcoming and supportive for all people. In Fredericksburg, we’re working to end the school-to-prison-pipeline that plagues area schools. In Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro, we’re working with local hospitals to increase accessibility for the deaf community. In Harrisonburg, we organized to ask the city to focus on a plan to increase diversity in hiring (and they did). There are campaigns like this all across Virginia.
Your gift to Virginia Organizing changes the lives of real people in communities across Virginia. People like you and me.
There are only a few days left to donate in 2015! Will you please make a tax-deductible donation to Virginia Organizing to support this great work? You can even donate in honor of a friend or loved one.
I promised I would be brief so I can’t tell you about all our victories over the last 20 years. But you can read about them in Building Power, Changing Lives: The Story of Virginia Organizing by Ruth Berta and Amanda Leonard Pohl (available for order here).
I look forward to our continued partnership in 2016 and beyond! Thank you.
