What: Demonstration in support of comprehensive immigration reform
When: Wednesday, April 1 at noon
Where: U.S. Representative Scott Rigell’s Virginia Beach Office (4772 Euclid Road, Suite E, Virginia Beach, VA 23462)
Virginia Beach, Va.—The South Hampton Roads Chapter of Virginia Organizing will gather at U.S. Representative Scott Rigell’s Virginia Beach office on Wednesday, April 1 at noon to stand in support of immigration reform and hold the Congressman accountable for his promises.
“Representative Rigell told us that he would push the U.S. House of Representatives leadership for a vote on comprehensive immigration reform, but he has failed to do so,” said Virginia Organizing Chapter leader Tim McCarthy. “We won’t be fooled by his broken promises any longer—we want a vote on immigration reform.”
Several people plan to share their immigration stories at the demonstration.
“My son is a citizen and I was caught in the broken immigration system,” said local resident Ruth. “Representative Rigell needs to represent all the people in his district and find a solution for those immigrants working hard and want to become citizens.”
The demonstration at Representative Rigell’s office is the last in a series of monthly vigils in the South Hampton Roads area to “Light the Way” to common sense, comprehensive immigration reform.
