What: Protest in support of Medicaid expansion outside of state Senator Mark Obenshain’s fundraiser

Harrisonburg, Va. – While state Senator Mark Obenshain holds an “Oysters for Obenshain” campaign fundraiser on Thursday evening, the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Chapter of Virginia Organizing and other allies in the community will hold a protest outside the event to call on Sen. Obenshain to get back to work in Richmond and support a budget that includes Medicaid expansion.
Community leaders and health care advocates will begin picketing at 5 p.m. at the entrance to the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.
The House of Delegates passed a budget that includes Medicaid expansion for nearly 400,000 Virginians. The Senate will reconvene on May 14 to consider the issue.
