Although Charlottesville is not that far from Richmond, it can sometimes feel like it is miles away. While the Jefferson-designed buildings of the UVA campus strongly resemble his Capitol building, the day-to-day of the General Assembly can feel unfamiliar to college students learning the ropes.
On Thursday February 3, 2011 several UVA Virginia Organizing chapter leaders visited the capitol to lobby their legislators on important issues like immigration and foreclosure and to learn about the process. Here UVA students Erin Franey, Katie Campbell and Carl David Goette-Luciak talk about their day and "demystifying" the legislative process.
