Virginians to Gather for Broken Hearts Day at the Capitol
RICHMOND—On Tuesday, February 14, 100 Virginia Organizing supporters from Abingdon to Arlington will make their way to the Capitol for the Broken Hearts day of action.
“Virginians voted for legislators who promised to work on jobs and the economy and instead have focused on far-flung legislation like restricting voting rights, lifting the one gun per month limit, restricting gay adoptions and drug testing public assistance recipients,” said Sandra Cook, Chairperson of Virginia Organizing.
The group will hold a 10:00 a.m. briefing at the General Assembly building (conference room 3 East). Following the briefing, participants will distribute empty heart-shaped boxes of candy to the legislators with a note inside that says, "Disappointed? So are we!" along with an accompanying letter. After distributing the candy, the group will head to the Bell Tower and hold broken heart signs highlighting the misplaced priorities of the legislature.

11:15 a.m.: Line the walk from the General Assembly to the Capitol with broken heart signs
12:30 p.m.: Head to Capitol to watch session
