WHAT: Press Conference: Join the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Chapter of Virginia Organizing for a response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the Affordable Care Act by real Virginians affected by the health care law. Four chapter members will speak on the decision and media will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Affordable Care Act Facts:

• Virginians are significantly affected by the Affordable Care Act. Any decision to restrict or limit the ACA will be a detriment to Virginia families, individuals and small businesses.
• The ACA has helped over 100 million people struggling to pay for their health care and 32 million will gain coverage through expansion. 
• Real benefits of the ACA include: 

• Young adults can stay on their parents’ health plans until age 26, making it possible for young people to continue their education and not worry about health care in the event they are not able to find a job right after graduation.
• Seniors are able to pay for life-saving medications that would have fallen in the “donut hole,” freeing the cost for necessities such as food and housing. 
• Insurance companies can no longer impose lifetime limits and deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
• Preventive care is covered without copays and deductibles, meaning Virginians are able to proactively take control of their health, increasing prevention of major illnesses and diseases and reducing health care costs for everyone. 
• Small business owners are able to provide coverage for their employees at a reasonable price and have been issued credits and rebates last week due to wasteful spending by health care providers.
