Harrisonburg, Va. – On Wednesday, April 10 at 6 p.m., Virginia Organizing will gather at Court Square in Harrisonburg to march to U.S. Representative Bob Goodlatte’s Mason Street office in support of immigration reform with a clear path to citizenship.
“Our gathering demonstrates a clear call to our Congressman to vote ‘yes’ on a comprehensive immigration reform bill that creates a real possibility of documentation for immigrant families and communities living and working in the United States,” said Virginia Organizing leader Jossimer Diaz-Castro.
The rally is part of a nationwide movement toward immigration reform with immigration events happening across the U.S. and culminating with a demonstration on April 10 on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
“We’ve been waiting and working hard for comprehensive immigration reform,” said Isabel Castillo, a Virginia Organizing leader and DREAMer. “We hope that Congress will stand on the right side of justice because the time is now.”
Immigration reform has taken the spotlight in national debates and local residents want to make sure the voices of the people directly affected by these policies are raised.
