Chatham, Va.—Virginia Organizing leaders will deliver a petition with more than 500 signatures in support of Medicaid expansion to Virginia Delegate Les Adams on Thursday at his law office, Adams, Elmore and Fisk, in Chatham.
“I see an urgency to Medicaid expansion but our legislators are dragging their feet,” said Virginia Organizing Martinsville-Henry County Chapter leader Betty Chew. “We can’t wait any longer—we need health care for 400,000 Virginians now! I hope Delegate Adams will pay attention to the needs of his constituents.”
Delegate Adams voted in favor of a state budget that prevented Medicaid expansion to about 400,000 Virginians in need of health care coverage and stopped the creation of 30,000 new jobs in the Commonwealth.
“Health care should be more than caring for those who get sick. Health care needs to include preventive care for all Virginians,” said Chew.
