Today, Virginia Organizing helped two women from Southwest Virginia share their personal stories about the lack of access to health care. Dorothy wrote a statement that was read (a family emergency prevented her from making the journey) and Edna traveled seven hours each way to tell our legislators why Medicaid expansion is critical for Virginians.
As I watched the media conference in Richmond, I realized the importance of having real people tell real stories — hopefully leading to real change. Sometimes it takes a while, but we are definitely in it for the long haul!
Helping real Virginians share their own stories is made possible by your donations to Virginia Organizing. For 36 hours beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, we have an opportunity to raise even more money for Virginia Organizing to help directly affected people lift their voices on the issues that matter to them.
Will you consider making a donation of $50 for Virginia Organizing during the “Amazing Raise”? If possible, will you make your donation between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 to help us possibly win an additional $2,000 prize? You can donate by clicking here during the Amazing Raise.
If you’d like us to call and remind you to donate, please fill out this form and someone will contact you!
Thank you for your continued support so people like Dorothy and Edna can share their stories from the farthest corner of Virginia!
