BREAKING NEWS! Did you miss the October 17 voter registration deadline? The Department of Elections website was malfunctioning that day and some voters did not get to register.
If so, you’re in luck! A federal court ordered that Virginia’s voter registration process has been extended until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 21. That means you have one more day to register to vote in the November 8, 2016 election!
Visit the Department of Elections website at http://elections.virginia.gov/registration/index.html to register online right now. You may also register in person at your local registrar’s office or Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or mail your registration if postmarked by tomorrow, October 21.
Do not delay! The registration date will not be extended for this year’s election again.
Governor Terry McAuliffe also advised today, “In the event that there are unexpected technology issues, we urge Virginians to contact the Department of Elections and indicate that they are attempting to register, so that staff can follow up and ensure that they make it through the process.”
