Climate calls us to action

I recently joined the staff of Virginia Organizing in a new position as the Climate Equity Policy Fellow. I hope to work with members statewide to lift up the issue of the climate crisis and how to address it without hurting the most vulnerable members of our communities.

We want a just transition away from fossil fuels. That means low-income Virginians, people who work in the fossil fuel sector, and Environmental Justice communities should have a seat at the policy-making table.

Those who have been targeted and harmed the most from pollution should not also have to suffer most in a just transition. A better world is possible for all of us.

Please take action this week with our friends at POWHR (Protect our Water, Heritage, Rights):

Things are heating up in Appalachia with Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) seeking an additional FOUR years at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to complete the MVP. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment for our STOP MVP movement, and we would appreciate your support in conveying to FERC that this project cannot go forward. The comment period deadline has been extended to July 29th, 2022!

Submit a comment to stop MVP today!

Thank you,

Elisabeth Chaves
Climate Equity Policy Fellow
