Don’t Let Politics Hijack Your School Board Forum

What: Community School Board Forum to inform Lee County Voters of Candidates’ Vision and Priorities

When: Tuesday, October 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Where: Lee Theater (41676 W. Morgan St., Pennington Gap, Va.)

Pennington Gap, Va. — Virginia Organizing will hold a Community School Board Forum on October 15 at 7 p.m. at the Lee Theater. Moderated by WJHL’s Jackie Defusco, the purpose of the Forum is to give voters the chance to hear what the candidates see as the challenges and opportunities facing education in Lee County.

Residents may be familiar with an alternate event recently planned for the same night and at the same time by a sitting member of the school board.

“Our event has been on the books for over three months” said Bill Wireman, a leader in the Lee County Chapter of Virginia Organizing. “We started planning this forum over the summer to give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about their vision for the future of education in Lee County.”

Virginia Organizing is a non-partisan grassroots organization that began in Lee County 24 years ago and now extends across the Commonwealth. We invite the citizens of Lee County to attend our forum on October 15 at 7 pm. ALL candidates were invited, and questions will focus on the future of education in Lee County and our children.

To interview a spokesperson about this event, contact Susan Stancill at 919-349-2658 or susan@virginia-organizing.org.
