Richmond, Va.—The Richmond Chapter of Virginia Organizing will rally to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Monday, March 23 at 5 p.m. at the federal courthouse at 7th and Broad Streets.
“I am so excited to be celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act since I now have coverage myself,” said Virginia Organizing leader Lillie A. Estes. “I will be celebrating my first month of coverage on Monday as well.”
Virginia Organizing organized in support of health care reform prior to the law being passed and worked to support the roll out once the ACA became law. Virginia Organizing has also rallied for Medicaid expansion in Virginia and helped raise the voices of those who are directly affected by lack of insurance because of the Virginia General Assembly’s failure to expand Medicaid for working, taxpaying Virginians.
This action is one of many events across Virginia coordinated by Virginia Organizing to support the Affordable Care Act and raise awareness about the need for further action on Medicaid expansion.
