Fairfax 2011 General Assembly Candidate Forum

Forum Aims to Bring Social and Economic Justice Issues to the Forefront of the 2011 Campaign Season

Fairfax, VA-As the Virginia statehouse campaign season heats up, numerous advocacy groups will host a Fairfax Candidate Forum at Arlington-Fairfax Elk's Lodge on Saturday, October 15, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The forum will focus on the increase in poverty, budget cuts and revenue, immigration, criminal justice, housing, education and other issues that will be preeminent in the 2012 General Assembly session.
The forum is sponsored by Virginia Organizing and Social Action Linking Together (SALT), along with the Virginia Coalition of Latino Organizations (VACOLAO), and Virginia Citizens United for Rehabilitation of Errants (CURE).
 
A total of 50 candidates from 26 Fairfax County state House and Senate races are invited. The program will begin with remarks from community leader, Reverend Thomas Murphy who will address the challenges faced by Fairfax County’s working poor.
