Newport News, Va. — Virginia Organizing’s Newport News/Hampton Chapter will hold a listening session on Monday, May 8 at 1 p.m. at Grissom Library to hear from parents, child care providers, and community members about their experiences with the difficulty of child care affordability.

The purpose of the national movement, “Day without Child Care,” is to put the spotlight on the true cost of care and demand the funding Americans need for a 21st century child care system.

Their demands include

  1. An equitable child care system, built on racial and gender justice
  2. Thriving wages for child care providers
  3. Affordable child care for all families.
