Today is the deadline in Virginia to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election.
Anyone eligible to register to vote can obtain an application at local voter registration offices, on the State Board of Elections website or at its office, and at public libraries and Department of Motor Vehicles offices, among other places.
The applications are pre-addressed and can be mailed or hand-delivered to any official voter registration office. Applications must be postmarked by today.
Voters can check their current registration on the State Board of Elections website.
Today is also the deadline to update registration information, which can be done several ways.
The board says voters may change information — for example, an address or name — by sending a letter to a local registrar, completing an address change notification provided by the DMV, using a voter registration application form or using the form on the back of a voter card.
Absentee voting is under way for voters who meet certain criteria, and the board reports that 60,612 absentee ballots had been requested statewide in-person or by mail as of Thursday.
