On Monday, September 12, 2016, Virginia Organizing South Hampton Roads Chapter leader Shelia Carter had the honor of introducing Governor Terry McAuliffe at a large voter outreach event for returning citizens in Portsmouth, Virginia.

More than 30 returning citizens signed up to have their rights restored expeditiously and the entire room was challenged to spread the word that this Governor is going to make sure that he stays committed to the task of restoration until all returning citizens are re-enfranchised! Virginia Organizing’s South Hampton Roads Voter Outreach Participation Issue Team also recruited some fired up leaders to help with the ongoing work of restoration of voting rights for all Virginians.
