Virginia Organizing Responds to Marriage Equality News

For Immediate Release: October 6, 2014

Petersburg, Va.—Virginia Organizing Board Chairperson Sandra A. Cook released the following in response to the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to not hear arguments in Virginia’s marriage equality case:

“For the last 19 years, Virginia Organizing has been fighting to make sure that all people have equality under the law and today we take an important step towards a more just Virginia. Today’s action by the U.S. Supreme Court means all Virginians can move forward and enjoy the legal and financial benefits that marriage provides families. This is an historic day that proves when people come together to create change, change is possible, barriers can be broken, and the collective voice will echo for generations.”
