I live in Wise County. My family and my home are ok, but many of my neighbors have been hit by the flooding, and folks in Eastern Kentucky have been hit even harder. Small, local mutual aid groups have been doing most of the work to help people in need.
If you can offer any assistance, this list comes from flood resources posted by Appalshop, a great organization in Eastern Kentucky:
Donation and Mutual Aid Funds:
- eKy Mutual Aid Flood Relief – PayPal.me/ekymutualaid
- Letcher County Flood Relief Amazon List (facilitated by Appalshop staff and eKy Mutual Aid)
- Lonesome Pine Mutual Aid – funds go directly to support Southwest Virginia and KY flood relief efforts
- Happalachian Social Club Mutual Aid via PayPal at happalachiansocialclub@gmail.com – funds go directly to support Southwest Virginia flood relief in Dickenson, Buchanan, and Russell counties and the Town of Pound
- Hindman Settlement School Flood Relief Donation Form and Amazon List
- Appalachian Citizens Law Center Flood Recovery Fund
- Cowan Community Center Fund – funds support direct aid through CANE Kitchen, Cowan Community Center and the Whitesburg Farmers Market
- Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky Appalachian Crisis Fund – also accessible at bit.ly/AppCrisisAid
Thank you for your support,
Terran Young
