What: Affordable Care Act 5th Anniversary Celebration
When: Tuesday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m.
Where: Downtown Waynesboro (421 W Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980)
Waynesboro, Va.—The Augusta/Staunton/Waynesboro Chapter of Virginia Organizing will rally to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Tuesday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. in Downtown Waynesboro.
“I am excited that 16.4 million people now have health care because of the ACA,” said Virginia Organizing leader Barbara Lee. “However, I fear that in Virginia, more hospitals might be closing because of the lack of Medicaid expansion.”
Virginia Organizing organized in support of health care reform prior to the law being passed and worked to support the roll out once the ACA became law. Virginia Organizing has also rallied for Medicaid expansion in Virginia and helped raise the voices of those who are directly affected by lack of insurance because of the Virginia General Assembly’s failure to expand Medicaid for working, taxpaying Virginians.
This action is one of many events across Virginia coordinated by Virginia Organizing to support the Affordable Care Act and raise awareness about the need for further action on Medicaid expansion.
