There are only five days until Election Day! At Virginia Organizing, we’re working hard to make sure that people get out and vote on November 2. We think our communities work best when everyone is involved in the democratic process. As a non-partisan organization, we don’t endorse or support candidates or parties; instead, we support the idea that traditionally underrepresented communities should participate at the polls.
One of the ways that we’re helping to get people to the polls is by making lots of phone calls and reminding voters about Election Day. We have a great system we use for these calls –all you need is a phone and a computer, and you can help contact voters and make sure they’re ready to cast a vote in the upcoming election.
If you’d like to help make some of these phone calls, please contact Kevin Simowitz Email Kevin or give him a call at 540-847-9729 to sign up for a shift. We make calls during the day and in the evening, and we’re happy to work with your schedule. You can call right from your house –it doesn’t get much easier than that!
Lastly, a word about why we phone: how many times have you hung up on an automated machine caller? If you’re like me, that number is too high to count. When we call, real person to real person, we’re breaking out of the typical campaign mindset of treating voters like cattle, and making personal connections to turn voters out on Election Day.
Please be in touch if you’d like to help make calls. If you do not have the time to make calls please be sure to make it to the polls Tuesday and remind all of your friends, family and neighbors to vote!
Thanks, as always, for your support of Virginia Organizing.
Take care,
Joe Szakos
