Fredericksburg, Va.—Virginia Organizing is excited to partner with the PONSHOP Studio and Gallery for our second annual “Latin Dance Night” fundraiser on Saturday, July 9, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Virginia Organizing is a grassroots organization dedicated to challenging injustice by empowering people in local communities to address issues that affect the quality of their lives.
According to Duane Edwards, State Governing Board member, “By raising local money, Virginia Organizing can better fight for directly affected people because we answer to them. We don’t take money from either side of the partisan divide or from government agencies because we don’t want to be co-opted by outside political interests. Our fundraising is a cornerstone of our non-partisan approach.”
The Fredericksburg Chapter of Virginia Organizing also believes in bringing the community together to build relationships, celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of our community, and have a good time. The “Latin Dance Night” fundraiser will feature salsa lessons, music and refreshments. Virginia Organizing is suggesting a $20 donation, which can be paid by cash at the door.
PONSHOP Studio and Gallery’s “Model Kit Marvels” show featuring custom-painted sculptures is currently on exhibit, and “Latin Dance Night” attendees will be granted admission into their gallery space to view paintings and ceramics from more than 40 contributing artists.
According to Gabriel Pons, local artist and co-owner of the PONSHOP, they are excited to be hosting Virginia Organizing’s event because “partnerships like this are in keeping with our mission – that creativity, culture and community go hand-in-hand”.
PONSHOP is a multifaceted storefront: an art gallery, retail store, and classroom. The vision of the owners, Scarlett and Gabriel Pons, is to provide a place that embodies what they love: art, design, and creative education. Their studio also doubles as a classroom, providing workshops for students interested in everything from painting, ceramics, and architecture to street art and skateboarding.
Virginia Organizing is a non-partisan statewide grassroots organization that brings people together to create a more just Virginia.
