There are significant changes to Medicaid and Social Security being proposed by the current administration that could impact a large percentage of people in our area, both directly and indirectly. But beyond numbers, we will discuss the lives that would be negatively changed or possibly ended by these proposed changes. Join Virginia Organizing for a press conference on Tuesday, April 8th at noon EST at Lee County Hospital as we discuss these issues.
“IN LEE COUNTY, IN 2023, 25.7 % OF THE POPULATION WERE COVERED BY MEDICAID, AND 41.8% BY THE CHILD MEDICAID/CHIP PROGRAM. A REDUCTION OF MEDICAID COVERAGE WOULD GREATLY IMPACT THE LIVES OF COUNTLESS LEE COUNTY CITIZENS. A REDUCTION IN MEDICAID WOULD THREATEN THE EXISTENCE OF RURAL HOSPITALS —LIKE OUR OWN LEE COUNTY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL. STAND UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR FAMILIES, YOUR LEE COUNTY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!,” said Art Van Zee, MD.
