Where: Westminster Presbyterian Church (400 Rugby Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903)
Charlottesville, Va.—Local artisans have crafted handmade bowls and local businesses have donated soup and bread for Virginia Organizing’s 10th Social Justice Bowl to support organizing on social, racial, economic, and environmental justice issues.
This year, attendees will hear from returning citizen Larry Scott as he discusses restoration of rights in Virginia. Other special recognitions will be made to several local businesses that provided space for 2016 voter registration efforts.
“Virginia Organizing is excited for this Social Justice Bowl,” said Virginia Organizing leader Susan Perry. “This is a terrific opportunity for our Charlottesville-Albemarle Chapter to support our mission with our members, donors, and sponsors.”
Perry continued, “We are especially honored that several African-American-owned businesses supported our efforts to register as many formerly incarcerated new voters as we could. We are so grateful to have this opportunity to thank Brown’s, Mel’s Cafe, Elite Cuts, and Cherry Street Barber Shop for their support.”
